Gauteng to change its number plates

From next year 2008 January, car owners will have to change their current number plates to new ones.

This was said by Ignatius Jacobs, Gauteng MEC for Public Transport, Roads and Works.
The new licence plates will include a barcode, which will let the traffic department get fast access to the car drivers records through a computerised technology.
